Who the Honda ADV 160 suits

The ADV 160 is for riders who want a fully automatic scooter that is happier on imperfect roads than a classic city scooter. The stance is taller and the ground clearance is about 165 mm, noticeably more than standard, so broken surfaces and speed bumps are less of an issue.

The engine is the same 156.9 cc liquid-cooled unit as in the PCX 160 with about 16 PS (11.8 kW), and reviews put real-world fuel economy at around 34–38 km per litre. Under the seat there are roughly 30 litres of storage, the windscreen can be set in two positions — raised or lowered for the city — and the semi-digital dash, USB charging and smart key are all included.

It works well around Ubud and its rice terraces, towards Munduk and its waterfalls, and on the hilly stretches around Uluwatu and Bukit. A 44-litre rear top box is available as an add-on.

When another model is a better choice

The ADV 160 is city-adventure styling, not a real enduro. On big rocks and serious rough terrain the clearance is still not enough, so it is not the bike for true off-road riding.

If you mostly stay on flat coastal roads and want the lowest seat, the Honda PCX 160 is the easier fit. If you plan multi-day touring with luggage, a manual tourer such as the Suzuki V-Strom 250 or the Kawasaki Versys-X 250 is better equipped.
