Yamaha Xmax 250 — all colours and trims

Who the Yamaha Xmax 250 suits

The Xmax 250 is for riders who want a big-scooter feel: a 250 cc single-cylinder Blue Core engine with about 22.8 PS (16.8 kW), an automatic CVT and a stable ride at higher speeds. The under-seat storage is about 44.9 litres — enough for two full-face helmets plus your gear — and the tank holds 13 litres.

Safety and convenience features include ABS, traction control, an Emergency Stop Signal that flashes the hazard lights under hard braking, a smart key with an answer-back signal to find the bike in a parking lot, and a phone charging socket. The Connected trim works with the Y-Connect app, which lets you answer calls, skip music tracks and use navigation from the handlebar. The Tech Max has an adjustable windscreen and a different seat — mechanically it is the same bike.

It is the natural choice for couples, longer rides from the south of Bali to the north, and anyone who wants a comfortable scooter with real reserve of power.

When another model is a better choice

At roughly 184 kg the Xmax is much heavier than the PCX 160 or Nmax 155, so for a first-time rider who only needs a light bike for narrow streets a smaller scooter is easier to handle and park.

If your route is mostly rough dirt roads, the Honda ADV 160 sits higher with more ground clearance, and for multi-day touring with bags a manual bike with boxes such as the Suzuki V-Strom 250 is better equipped.
