Who the Yamaha XSR 155 suits
The XSR 155 is for riders who want the style and character of a motorcycle without excessive power — a comfortable step up from a scooter to a manual bike. The chassis comes from the R15 sportbike, which makes it light and very responsive.
The 155 cc liquid-cooled engine with variable valve actuation is the same base as the Nmax 155, tuned for more power in the manual version, with about 19.3 PS (14.2 kW). With a gentle throttle hand real-world fuel economy reaches around 50 km per litre. The tank holds about 10 litres and the bike weighs roughly 131–134 kg.
It is a natural fit for Canggu and Seminyak, where the retro looks match the neighbourhood, and it holds longer winding routes too — a three-hour ride out to Amed was reported to go without trouble. A rear top box and brackets are available.
When another model is a better choice
Plan carefully if you ride two-up: the rear seat is small and firm and many versions do not have a proper passenger grab handle.
If you want a fully automatic bike for relaxed riding, a scooter like the Yamaha Nmax 155 is easier. For heavy luggage and long distances, the Suzuki V-Strom 250 or the Kawasaki Versys-X 250 are better set up, and for more power in a naked body see the MT-25.
