Who the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-25R suits
The ZX-25R is for confident riders who want maximum thrills from a 250 cc motorcycle and do not mind keeping the revs up. The 249 cc liquid-cooled DOHC inline-four makes about 47 PS (35.2 kW) with Ram Air at 15,500 rpm, with a redline up to 17,000 rpm.
The factory quick shifter allows clutchless gear changes with an automatic throttle blip on downshifts; experienced riders say it turns ordinary Bali-speed riding into real fun — you do not need track speeds to enjoy the shifts. The bike has a 6-speed manual gearbox, a seat height of about 785 mm, weighs around 180 kg and holds roughly 15 litres of fuel.
It shines where the MT-25 does too — town, the beach road and quiet back roads — for the experience and the character rather than any particular route.
When another model is a better choice
Peak power only arrives at 15,500 rpm, so riders used to low-rev cruising will find the bike feels flat until you rev it out. Riders over 180 cm report their legs get tired from the riding position by the end of the day, and the suspension is tuned for the street, not the track.
For relaxed riding, two-up touring or beginners, consider a calmer bike such as the XSR 155 or the Honda CB150X. Note that the deposit for this model is higher for rentals under 7 days.
