Scratched the plastic bodywork pulling out of a parking spot? Dropped the bike on a gravel path in Ubud? It happens fairly often, and it's rarely a disaster if you handle it the right way. Here's exactly what to do.

Step 1: Message Us Right Away

As soon as it happens, send us a message on WhatsApp or Telegram — don't wait until you return the bike. Reporting early means we can start sourcing a replacement part or scheduling a respray while you're still out riding, instead of everything happening at once on your last day. As covered in our deposit guide, only mentioning it at drop-off, after the fact, is the single biggest reason deposit disputes happen.

Step 2: Send Photos

A couple of clear photos of the damage, taken in good light, are usually all we need to get started. If it happened in a collision with something else, a photo of the surroundings helps too.

Step 3: How the Cost Is Worked Out

It depends on what was damaged.

Equipment and accessories are charged at fixed, published rates — the same for every renter, not negotiated case by case:

ItemDeduction
Standard helmet200,000 IDR
KYT half-face helmet500,000 IDR
KYT full-face helmet600,000 IDR
Raincoat (damaged/lost)100,000 IDR
Helmet bag (damaged/lost)50,000 IDR
KYT visor (heavily scratched/cracked)150,000 IDR
Standard visor (light scratches)50,000 IDR
Phone holder (damaged/lost)150,000 IDR

Damage to the bike itself — scratched plastic bodywork, a dented tank, a broken mirror — isn't charged at a flat rate. It's assessed individually, because the range is simply too wide for a single number to be fair in every case (a light scuff and a cracked panel cost very different amounts to fix). We'll tell you the amount before anything is deducted from your deposit.

Step 4: What Happens to Your Deposit

Whatever the final amount is, it's deducted directly from your deposit — you don't pay anything extra out of pocket unless the damage genuinely exceeds the deposit amount, which is rare for normal scratches and minor drops. Whatever's left of the deposit after the deduction is returned to you as usual.

Not sure whether something counts as normal wear or damage? Just send us a photo on WhatsApp or Telegram — we'll tell you honestly either way.
